Rooted in Community. Focused on Delivering Results.

About Supervisor Cano

Born and raised on Tucson’s Southside, Andrés Cano has spent his life fighting for fairness, opportunity, and dignity for Arizona families. The son of a single mother and the grandson of a copper miner, Andrés learned early that hard work and community can change lives. When his grandmother, Nana Rosa, passed away from workplace exposure to toxic metals, it shaped his lifelong commitment to justice — for workers, for families, and for the environment.

From his start as a youth intern in Pima County government to becoming one of the youngest legislators ever elected to the Arizona House of Representatives, Andrés has spent over 15 years in public service delivering real results. As House Minority Leader, he helped pass record investments in affordable housing, expanded KidsCare health coverage for children, and helped create a $1 billion water infrastructure fund to secure Arizona’s water future.

Today, as Pima County Supervisor for District 5, Andrés is building on that record — expanding affordable housing, investing in small businesses and job creation, improving transparency, and creating opportunities for every neighborhood across Midtown, Downtown, the West Side, the Southside, and the Pascua Yaqui Nation.  Supervisor Cano believes local government should reflect the people it serves — open, accountable, and focused on results that last.
